F open March scope? 10-60 or 8-80?

If I was to buy a 2nd focal plane March target scope I know I want fine adjustments... =1/8 click... finer adjustment than moa or milrad...

10-60x56 OR 8-80X56?????

1/8th dot?
1/16th dot?

Dot in the middle with moa scale for hold offs?

Whats the best retivle for long rsnge precision?

Where does 60-80X zoom have a need?

Plan for 1000 yards

Best place to buy?

What are the scope tube diameters on these? Didnt see it on the march website...?

Help me buy the best scope!!

I have older 8x80, 34mm tube. Hardly EVER shot above 60x, image gets very dark. Also a newer standard 10x60, 30 mm tube with the 1 moa marks at 40x. My new Nigh Master has better glass and the 34mm tube gives a slightly better (brighter) image.

My humble opinion. Get the 10x60 High Master. 1 moa tick marks at 40x, no dot, 34mm tube. Mount with 34mm NF ultralight rings and you have one of the best set-ups you can get. Just shop around. I bought mine from Wheeler Accuracy. Give him a call.

I have both. It'll depend more on where you shoot and how much mirage you'll experience. Only one time ever have I been able to turn my 80x up to 80x and shoot a string. It seems like I mostly end up with it around 40x. Other much more experienced shooters may chime in, but I don't think I'd buy another 80x.

My 10-60x has a 30mm tube and my 8-80x has a 34mm tube. I'm pretty sure they both have 3/32" dots. I didn't like the clutter when I shot with an MOA-2 reticle.

I know of a 8-80 for sale ;)

I am a holdover kinda guy! No dots for me. It seems as if too small a dot would be harder to see when the mirage cranks up. I live in the southwest were temps are as high as 120°, the average daily temp now is 108° and overnight it drops to mid 90's. I run my scopes at max power and use the hashes as hold overs.
Hash marks also allow you to bracket.

I saw a March scope pack it in yesterday at Canadian F class nationals there a reason for 85% + using nightforce

10-60 X52 with 3/32 dot. Great for F-class. I hold off on rings so i don't find plane Jane cross/dot an issue; I prefer an uncluttered reticle for paper. No issues with the dot in heaviest of mirage. I usually back off the mag even without mirage to see the top of the number board to read mirage and verify my target #.

I love them I have 3- 8X80x56 The 56mm I think gives more light and I can also turn it up to 61 power if I need it. :)

Sniper, the March 56mm objective scopes are 34mm tubes; the 52mm are 30mm tubes. My only other comp scope is a Swarovski X5 5-25 x56. I use that for a 'tactical rifle' match that is limited to 25X mag. You will find that any very high mag scope will appear dimmer compared to a lower mag and my 56mm objective Swaro is brighter than my 52mm March when both are at 25x. It took adjustment at first and I was dissapointed...for a single range trip but once I got to shoot it at distance I am very happy. It tracks precisely, is easy to zero and set the zero stop, and good eye relief even up near 60x (I rarely shoot it at that mag except when testing and 100-300yds in no mirage conditions). Usually I am at 50x or a little less. If you are set on a 56- 34mm tube there is a Kahles 10-50 x 56 in the classifieds. It was my second choice and would have likely been the one I would have purchased if it was offered with a crosshair/fine dot reticle. I do not care for the MOAK reticle personally but I know others who love it.

80x will be great at dawn about 1/3 of the days. Within an hour you'll be turning it down. If you get to shoot long distances at that time you'll appreciate it.

Just be careful with very small dots and very fine crosshairs...mine would disappear on me half though a string..holding breathe, lots of shots..sight is the first thing to go with loss of O2..everyone's eyes are different though

Either the 10X60X52mm or High Master 10X60X56mm will serve you well. As others have mentioned, I usually end up around 40X for best all around view of target at 1000yds. I like the 3/32 dot which is half way between 1/16 and 1/8. Makes a nice aiming point at 1k. I use the target rings for hold off.

Good shooter in worlds this week in Ottawa shot this score
158. FARRELL,,ON #366 MMXAO 25v0
that's 25 points out of possible 75. you want to ask him his thoughts on March scopes it packed it in
I would say 80 to 90 % of 425 + shooters are shooting Nightforce scopes

Are we 100% sure the scope was at fault? I am sure if it was the scope, March will take care of it. This is the first time I hear a March scope being the cause!
As for nightforce having a stronger presence, well they give a bunch at prize tables, there are many sponsored/related/team shooters that get these scopes for pennies. On the other hand March is more expensive and does not hand them out like candy.

I would go with the original 10-60. The new HM 10-60 is a little better glass, but I think the old model is good enough and the value is there. I don't recommend the 80, the image is poor in comparison. I don't sell scopes anymore

Have you ever heard of failure. Formula 1, Indy Car, Nascar, go carting everything has a failure point but no one knows when it will happen. Walk up to Mid Tompkins and ask him to name the scope that has Not failed. You just never know when it will happen.
