If I aspire to F-Class with a new rifle purchase, what do you all buy. A gun chambered for 223 or one chambered 556?
FTR (Tactical Rifle) allows the use of a bipod but not a fixed front rest. You won't have to compete with shooters who spent $2,000 on a coaxial rest!If shooting FTR then it has to be 223 or 308.
If shooting F open then it’s 284 Win or bust.
If you like recoil then 300 WSM.
If you’re cool and hip then 7/6.5 PRC.
If… out of ideas.
A $2000 rest that you can sell used for 90% of new price is one of the cheapest parts of the game.FTR (Tactical Rifle) allows the use of a bipod but not a fixed front rest. You won't have to compete with shooters who spent $2,000 on a coaxial rest!
You can use pretty much shoot any caliber including .223/5.56 or 308 in F-open and a Bipod if youd like.use of a bipod but not a fixed front rest.
The 12’s are very good target rifles. My first range rifle was a Model 12 LRPV , .223 with a 7 twist. 2000+ rounds through it, and it’s been great.I recomend starting with a Savage 12 FTR in either 223 or 308.

Is this a serious question or bait for the 223 vs 556 argument. If I aspire to F-Class with a new rifle purchase, what do you all buy. A gun chambered for 223 or one chambered 556?
Thats a really good looking 308 setup! This kid shoots FTR in California and does quite well. He uses my Revolution stock. He shoots my 223 ISSF barrel also.
