F-Class & Any/Any Shooters Scope Power

Guys,
What power do you shoot at 600 yards..most of the time?
What power go you shoot at 1000 yards most of the time?

Do many of you shoot a fixed power scope?

Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck,

I shoot a 15x NXS, a 24x Leupold BR, and a 8.5x25 on 20X. I like 20x to 24x best, at all ranges.

Chris...

I've used a SS16X42,fixed 16X) both Any/Any and F-Class w/ good results, for me, maybe not for someone in the hunt for a championship win), and have done fairly well so far w/ a Leupold Vari-X III LR/T 6.5-20x50mm... pretty much set on 20X all the time. I have another LR/T 8.5-25X50mm sitting ready for a fast twist .243 F-class gun in the works. Got an older Leupold 36X BR scope sitting in mounts for the next time I shoot my Prone gun as Any/Any; we'll see how that turns out. Might be a bit much for me to hold steady enough to get a shot off!

Hi i shoot F Class and use Weaver T36 scopes for everything my club has a 223 F Class firle and we use a Weaver T24 it is a great all round scope and they all have 60moa adjustments on them with turrets that are the most accurate with the microtrac 4

I have a 5.5-22 NXS and a Leupold Mark 4 with a Premier 14.5-35 boost. Anything with good glass and 16x or higher should be fine, than I've done a lot of 500 to 750 yd practice with a 10X and been fine but it is hard to get an exact point of aim, may vary 2 inches.

I was using a 8x32 Nightforce Benchrest model. I ran out of "UP" at the 800 yard line. ,Because of range limitations we do 600, 700 and 800 for long range matches here) I just switched to my 3.5x15 NXS. I have only zeroed in at the 200 yard mark but have over 40 minutes of elevation left. I need 26 minutes of UP for the 1000yd range. The 8x32, with a 200 yard zero, only had 23 minutes of "UP" remaining. This might be something to consider if you are trying to decide between purchasing the Benchrest or NXS model of Nightforce. I was using between 18 and 24 power, depending on the temperature and mirage. Now I guess 15 power will be my max. These scopes were/are mounted on a Tubb T2K chambered for 6XC. With the bolt guns, like the Rem 700 several people make the 20minute bases. As far as I can determine, there are none available for the T2K. I like the 8x32 better than the 3.5x15, but if it does not give me the elevation that I need, that is a mute point. Being new to the F class game, I am also trying to resolve a lot of questions. Carl,

I am pretty sure a tapered scope rail is offered for the Tubb rifle.

If not, Anna Kinny of First Strike products, was making an extended 20 - 25 MOA rail for the T2K. She does great work. If you are in the market for a tapered extended rail, I wouldn't hestitate to call her and see what she came up with.

Leupold LRT 8-25X set at an indicated 23X almost all the time. Since the LRT actually delivers only 24.3 X max, read Leupold's fine print), I think I'm probably running 22X true magnification. If it's really windy and switchy I'll back down to 18X so I can see more flags and dust trails.

Why 23X? I found with the scope cranked full power I was getting some distortion and the eye relief became much more critical. Scopes with constant eye relief are way more user-friendly.

Chris; That is great news. I have solved the elevation problem by shifting to the 3.5x15 NXS Nightforce scope. Got all kinds of up with that one. However, I would like to use my 8x32 on my T2K. If I go beyond 800 yards or if I have a headwind I will be out of "UP".

Do you possibly have a email or phone number for that person? I am new to competition and do not know any of the well known names in the game or ????

Thanks, Carl L.
