Why neck down when quality 6mm Creedmoor brass is available?
My thoughts as well. To answer your questions. I suggest to have the mentality that you may have to deal with the issues above. But they are not for certain. I personally have not seen issues necking down Lapua brass from 6.5-6mm or 6mm-22.
I highly suggest going with manufactured 6CM brass

Only reason being I have 400pcs of virgin 6.5. Just a pain to take a bath on selling them and then turn around and buy 400 in 6 at full retail.
I run all new brass through a sizing die before I load it, so no real extra effort to neck down unless other prep is then required.
What are "trimmer dies"? (I have some old school trim dies, but I suspect you refer to something else.)I did the same as you. I shoot 6.5 CM and building a 6mm CM. Have 200 virgin cases of 6.5 CM, ...
I necked them down but will turn the necks once my trimmer dies arrives.
You might list them "Trade for 6 CM" in the classifieds. Worth a try.Only reason being I have 400pcs of virgin 6.5. Just a pain to take a bath on selling them and then turn around and buy 400 in 6 at full retail.

There's a "die" for doing that? Pray tell, please: Where can I get one?Trimming the outside of the neck area to get even tension on the bullet.
Not necessarily. Two thousandths is a little high. I've necked 7x57 down to 257 Rob which is close to 3/4 mm reduction and neck walls thickened about 2 thou. I'd estimate about 0.0015 thicker from 6.5 to 6mm. If it's a SAAMI chamber neck turning won't be absolutely necessary, but I'd turn necks anyway for consistency and to reduce neck tension.Generally, going down 1/2 millimeter will result in the necks thickening about 2 thousandths! This will necessitate neck turning.
