expanding for a false shoulder

so i have done this for my dasher , so i know the process, but not the size for my current project.
i have a 6.5 gt( a 6gt necked up), and with some discussion elsewhere it has been suggested that i use a false shoulder to fire form this brass.
soo 6.5/.264 up to ??? is .270 enough or do i need to go to 280/7mm ?
thanks

I used a 6.5 expander mandrel to put a false shoulder on my 6br brass to fire form to 6 dasher. So you will be expanding from 6.5 to 6.8. Then you will need to squish part of the neck down to 6.5 again. Should work. Try a few then chamber the unloaded case with the firing removed from your bolt to feel for good contact. I would say that the less you expand to achieve your result the better.

You could try loading long with a hard jam in place of expanding the neck for a false shoulder. Be aware of the powder charge as the pressue would increase with a jammed bullet.

If you dont have the proper size expander in a die set, K&M may be the cheapest alternative. A V1 press adaptor & a 270 tapered expander will cost you under $30... + shipping.
