Excessive working of brass necks

I am in the middle of building a 6mm SLR.
I picked up the Whidden die set which has the standard FL non bushing die, figured I would get my brass sized, get it fired and then go to neck sizing only with a 6xc neck only bushing die.
I am using Alpha .260 brass, my concern is, the die squeezes the neck down to .258 od and then the expander ball has to work it back out to .272 od... .013 movement.
All my other sizing dies are either collet or bushing style, is this common for a FL non bushing die?

For the ones I’ve used- yes

I’ve since gone a different direction.

At the link below the most the neck was worked was .008 and the least was .004 on .223/5.56 brass. I do not have any die that works the case neck as much as your Whidden die does. Methinks you have a die problem and I would contact Whidden with the problem.

Subliminal suggestion, a Forster honed die would cost less. ;)
