I was reloading some once fired 260 Remington Lapua brass today. It was going well, I had cleaned, decapped and resized. I was running a .262 mandrel through them thinking this seems very smooth when I thought I'll just test them with a bullet, it dropped right in. Obviously that's not supposed to happen!
After some head scratching, and getting slightly annoyed I'd bought the wrong bushing for my Redding die, I realised my error. I had previously only loaded up new brass and hadn't realised when setting up the die the neck wasn't going up far enough to enter the bushing. Being new brass the necks were tight enough to load so I hadn't noticed. Lesson learnt and at least I don't need to buy a new bushing!
