Euro CZ 452 Scope ring

My uncle is asking me to mount a VX- Freedom 3-9x 40mm scope on a CZ 542 made in Czech Republic.

I presume this will need 11mm dovetails?

Do you CZ shooter have a 1" ring recommendation?

Now that I have looked at some pictures of his rifle, this is going to be a balancing act.

11mm dovetail for sure, but with the 90 degree bolt throw and the rear iron sight on the barrel where the bell will want to be, combined with the hog back rear stock, finding a mount that is high enough to gain clearance for a 40mm bell on the sight and the bolt lift and maybe power dials in the back... and keep a cheek weld on the falling down stock.

I hope some one has done this and can give me a suggestion. Looking at the different 11mm rings I can find I am seeing "High" values range from 0.5 to 0.98"

I used BKL rings on mine but didn't have a rear sight to contend with.
I think it was these.
KSS has other offerings as well. They're decent rings, don't let the cheap price scare you away.

I've sold the rifle w/rings so can't take a measurement for you. You could poke around on the CZ forum on rimfire central & may find your answer there.

I haven’t looked at this in a while. I have a 453. What I do recall was that the 452 and the 453 have different dovetails. Rimfire central (www.rimfirecentral.com) might be helpful

+1 on BKL rings.

The BKL is not the most attractive ring but they are one of the best for mounting a scope on a 3/8" or 11 mm dovetail mount. They are solid, give good clearance, and have a mount for practically every situation that is encountered with rimfire dovetail mounting.

BKL is the only dovetail ring I've ever used: cheap and highly effective. They're great for position shooters, too, since they make a cantilevered option, and they work for both 3/8" and 11mm dovetails so you're covered no matter what standard your CZ uses.

I might even have an extra set I can sell you, but I'd need to check after work today.

All of my CZ .22 rifles have dovetail to weaver rail with Burris Signature Zee rings of the proper height.

What is the proper height for a 40mm scope?
Burris 1” Signature Zee rings only come in medium and high. The mediums should work fine for a 40mm scope. You will gain some height with the dovetail to weaver adapter rail. Photo is my CZ-455 with adapter rail, high rings and 50mm scope.

Not sure if he wants to spend the money, but if you buy an Area419 rail, you'd have more options and the clearance. They make this in the 15MOA and 30MOA and this one would fit your 452 from what their website says. I have one of these on my 457 and it's really nice for my application. Comes in around $100 just for the base though, so it's not a cheap $15 mount job, that's for sure.

I have the same rifle. I think I have Hawke brand tall 11mm rings. Ask for the the tallest rings they have. I put a vortex 6-18x44 scope on my gun. Does fit with out taking sight off. Bell is almost touching front sight thou. Marty

i used Burris rimfire signature zee rings on my 452. they fit the dovetail perfect. mine are highs just cause that is what i had.

Burris Signature Zee rings are made for Picatinny/Weaver rails, The ones for grooved receivers don't get the "Zee" suffix - they're just Burris Signature rings. I use both types on different rifles.
