Etched Rem 700 receiver

Has anyone here removed the etching that was put on the Remington 700 receivers in the early 2000's rifles. Seems like they could be chucked up and turned on a lathe and .005 to .010 would remove that stupid etching.

Taking material off an action by lathe turning, remember there's also a serial number and you don't want to be messing with that.

The serial # is stamped much deeper than the etching. Just was in looking at and the more I look at the etching, the better it looks. If I look at it anymore it may become downright beautiful. Guess I'll just leave it alone and live with it.
