Estimated Ladder Max for RL17 in 6.5x284 with 130 VLD?

A question on running a ladder work up for a 6.5x284 with Berger VLD (hunting) 130 grainers. Hunting loads.

I don't see a LOT of info on RL17 so some advice about where I should top out the loads on the ladder would be a great.

Br-2 primers, Lapua brass, loaded just off the lands to start. Standard no turn neck 6.5x284 chamber. 8 twist.

Trying some other powders too but don't have much info on the RL17 for this round other than the blog on RL17 here.

Thanks in advance.

I just ran it through my quickload . I used a 26 inch BBl. and a C.O.A.L. of 3.228 , case length 2.170 , berger 130 VLD , .264 dia. , 6.5 x 284 norma , reloader #17 powder . quickload shows max psi at 59465 . 50.8 grains of powder will give 59348 psi , 3072 FPS , and that is 84.6% case fill . hope this helps . Jim

No, no, no!
There are too many variables to 'guess' at your MAX loads.
Nobody could do it. Nobody should.
Just work up, and find out for yourself...

I am certainly going to work UP to it but just need SOME kind of estimate on where max "Should" be...aka where to stop uping the charge by .2 grain.

Be rest assured I WILL BE WATCHING both primers and head measurements on EACH round shot.......finding that max for my set up.

I just didnt have a clue what MIGHT be max to give me a 2-3 grain lesser amount where to START the ladder .......and then work up.

But thanks! Good point, none-the-less.
