Equipment (mat) question

I have a friend that's had surgery on his stomach, which give him problems when he lays down. Does anyone know if there would be a problem with him adding some padding (foam rubber) to his mat so he could shoot in the prone position. Talking F/Class. Thank you, Alan

Erik Cortina is on here and an avid f-class shooter. Pm him along with shootsdots. They may have the answer or who to call in the organization.

when I bought my mat from creedmoor several years ago I paid a little extra for "double foam" in the front for those long prone matches. I bet if you give them a shout they may be able to build yours to your liking.
cheers,
Doc

::) Well, it's like this........he can take out his Postra-pedic and shoot right off it! No problems from other shooters or the rules (unless he infringes on his fellow shooters' firing point space with his Postra-pedic). The trade off is where does he put his rear bag? He can put his rear bag on his Postra-pedic, but in order to have a solid prone F-Class position, the rear bag is best employed when situated directly on the ground, or atop a thin mat. Hope you get the idea!!

Well that's kind of the problem. He needs to shoot a few matches to see where he needs the extra foam.

I understand. I don't think he'll need the extra foam up that high.

In highpower competition that would be viewed as "artificial support" unless it is sewed or glued to the mat. It all needs to be "one piece". I was called for placing a shooting mitt under my right elbow to level my position on uneven ground. F-class should have the same rule. Besides, having the padding attached to the mat makes it easier to move into and out of position.
