Encore trigger help?

What's not to love about a 7lb trigger? Lol
I took mine to a gunsmith, he had to use a stone to lighten it. It's a BEAUTIFUL 2lb trigger now, I love it! No play, very crisp. Cost me $80 a few years back.
Most of our smith's around here are still beating on anvil's..lol. Maybe I can u-tube the stoneing process and do it myself? I do see were they make a spring kit

The fellow I had do it a few years back was in his seventies. Grumpy old bastard, but a decent gunsmith. According to him, it was not very difficult just very time consuming. Stoning was the only way, from what I understood from him, that type of trigger assembly can be done. But I'm no gunsmith so...

I also had to fabricate that the purpose for the weapon was for benchrest, otherwise he would not take it down to 2 lb (1.75 actually) for me like I had requested. I had a second Encore rifle trigger done by a different gunsmith after the first one that passed away and he refused to go below 3 lb on that gun claiming safety purposes. 3 pound trigger wasn't bad he did a good job but nowhere near as nice as a 2lb pull especially when you're trying to hold steady on a groundhog or a big buck at 400- 500 yards & your heart is pounding out of your chestLOL

I have an Encore with a superb trigger. I say this to encourage you to go ahead and have it done.

Online videos are great, but I’d only go so far as to do a spring kit DIY. If you deem stoning is necessary, hire it out.

Mike Bellm has trigger kits for sale. I’d start there.

I have seen numerous encore triggers that have been stoned, majority of them are not safe. Done by those that did not understand the workings.

Check for push off. Make sure it is unloaded. Cock the hammer then push on it with your thumb. If you can push it off, the angles have been messed up.

Contrary to popular belief, these triggers can be done as well as any Contender, they just take a bit longer and are a bit more complicated.

As mentioned above, contact Bellm and get his spring set. Makes most folks happy.

Another plug for Mike. Bellm TC spring kit and stone kit. I’ve done three now and all turned out great ! I’m using the #5 spring but I got a #6 to hold beautifully but it was too light for my taste. Not a hard trigger to work on imo.

I have been shooting paper everyday trying do get dialed in but what I really want to do is kill me a buck.
I hear That! My Encore in 25-06 With a good trigger, and barrel i got from Match Grade Machine in Utah, is a beast! Ive dropped quite a few nice bucks with it. I also take it out through out the summer groundhog hunting, it's great practice for your skills.
