Encore 22 LR barrel questions

The funds for buyng an Anschutz 1710HB are not available.

I see Natch Grade Machine has a 22 LR barrel available for the Encore, has anyone shot one?

How do they compare with other 22LR barrels available for the Encore?

What is the purpose of a .222 diameter Rimfire barrel, is that not too tight?

Thanks,
Bruce

The bore spec on a 22lr is smaller than a 22CF.

I have been doing my own bbl turning and chambering for a couple of years and have been learning a lot about how things affect a 22lr bbl. Your gage on the bore is a slug. I pull bullets from Eley Match EPS and push them down the bore to feel for tight spots, find out where the tightest point in the choke is, feel for the smoothness and consistency of the bore over its entire length.

My latest big discovery is how much the outside profile of the bbl affects the bore. Lets say you turn a bbl down to a straight cylinder but leave a substantially larger dia shoulder to bear on the rec face. When you push a slug through the bore there will be a pronounced tight spot right at that shoulder. Turn the shoulder off and the tight spot is gone. Now the bbl has the same drag on the slug all the way down.

What has this got to do with an Encore bbl? I don't see how you can weld a lug to the bottom of a bbl and not radically affect the bore. Also, do they use a match grade blank with a constantly tapering bore? Do they use a blank that even has choke at the muzzle?? Is the blank lapped after rifling ???

My suggestion is to buy a Savage or CZ or Annie 64 or a Kimber 82 Gov or maybe a Suhl 150 if you can find one of the current batch. Any of them would have more accuracy potential than a break open single shot.
