Empty 8 lb jug of powder ?

I have about 3.5 lbs of Varget left but what does an empty 8 lb jug weigh so I can get a better idea of actual weight.

About 4oz, give or take, depending on the jug. I have tared a few and they range from 3.5 to 4.3.
My Hodgdon H380 8 pounder shows as 4oz. IMR4350 shows 3.8, and a Clays at 4.3.
Just noted AA2230 8# jug tares at 3.5oz.
Most steel cap 1 pounders show as 2.3oz, plastic cap 1 lb'ers at 2.0oz, & Vhitavhouri 2 lb'ers show as 3.4oz.

Why do I have all these measurements? OCD.

Weigh a full jug. Subtract 8 lbs

I've been doing that but 24 grains at a time.

I've got 2 empty Alliant jugs. With the tops on, they weigh 12.5oz and 12.8oz.

Weigh a gallon Ziploc bag. Tear that weight off
pour the powder in the bag.
