ELR Bipod Suggestion/Reviews....?

Always wanted a " boomer " to shoot some extended long-range from time to time. Traded into a BEAUTY of a 338 Lapua Imp. yesterday...( Thanks Dragman... ) that can be shot from the bench or the belly. It has a removable pic. rail for a bipod. The gun is approx. 25lbs and I would like some suggestions of bipods for my needs. Non-joystick......I have a nice Atlas and an HD GG&G here, but my knowledge beyond that is VERY limited.......Thank you for your input.

Regards
Rick

Thanks for all the great input. After looking around at some of the stuff I didn't know existed, I have decided that what is best for my needs is the Atlas 5-H I already own.......Happy Shooting

The F-T/R bipods like the Phoenix used to be popular in ELR competition, but a rule change a few years ago prohibited non-folding skipods, which paved the way for the AccuTac to take over. A lot of stuff does work, but in competition, there's a pretty extreme bias.

I use a plain old swiveling one which clips on the Sling stud bipod. Mines a Harris. It's got a film of rust on it now from lots of use in lots of conditions, but I use it on my 308 to about the maximum useful range of the cartridge.

I think any bipod that swivels so you can level your system plumb on uneven terrain is going to be plenty for you man.

I like my GRS bipod, got it originally as the set for use in a hanging config on my TAC A1. I really like it for a heavy rig as it's light, but solid and good features. Too large and bulky for say a hunting rifle in the field.

A person can get each of the parts individually too. So for other stocks, just the spigot, or spigot adapter set. I wish they offered an arca adapter, current one is just pic. Next stock I'm planning to mount the spigot on the arca overhang but inverted so it will be between the rail and barrel getting it as high as possible in an under barrel config.

If you don’t need to pan, get the SCAL from them. You’ll be much happier. Better yet, the Accutac hd50 is better yet
