Elk Ridge Reamer Rentals

Anyone else having heartburn with them? Used to be VERY responsive and quick. Ordered 30 carbine pull through on 24 June and nothing but crickets. Order status on their website says "processing". 3 phone calls and two emails. Not a peep.
They got a little screwy a few years ago by sending some multi level marketing crap out to their email list. Thought that had passed.

Anyone have a pull through to rent or sell?
Ken

Ptg usually keeps all the pull thru reamers in stock. Not sure about the carbine, but they told me they always keep their pull thrus in stock

Funny how different people have different experiences. If 4D was the only option, I'd never rent a reamer again.

Emailed a link to this thread to Elk and lo and behold I got a shipping/tracking confirmation. At least a label has been printed up at this point...nothing on its way yet.
Only took 15 days...!

Squeaky wheel gets a little grease

I have rented from ER since before moving to Orygun in 2004 when they we in Pear Blossom Calif. I moved to Orygun and found out they were 15 miles from me. They "used" to let me come by and pickup reamers and ret. them etc. nice folks to deal with. Their kids graduated from college here and decided to move back to Utah and let one of the employees take over the business from their home. Heck, I even bought all their cabinets from their building etc. for my shop. That arrangement worked well till the Plandemic happened. No more letting me pickup reamers, they wanted to have them delivered 15 miles by USPS at an added expense. I ordered a .338 Edge reamer and never heard a word for weeks and drove to his house and no answer at the door. So, I went to the bank and had my PMT reversed and called 4D long story short basically the same problems and both claimed they had a new baby in the home bla bla bla don't care we had 5. kids and life never stopped for us. I called PTG they are 30 miles from me they said no reamer available would be 12 weeks called back a few weeks later got a different person "She" actually looked and i'll be darned if they didn't have one on the shelf and the gauges too. so, I bought them for $275 offered the customer a chance to buy them since he had me chamber 2. rifles with it. and crickets not interested. Fast forward to 7. days ago I need a .240 WBY reamer for a customers rifle. I ordered it from Elk Ridge got a computer receipt and haven't heard a word since. So, it appears lightening strikes twice and it looks as though i'll have to buy another single use reamer and I really don't want to deal with 4D after the last go around. I asked the old owners of Elk Ridge back in the day if they wanted to work a deal with me on the reamers since it would be a good fit with a Gunsmithing Business and the Wife and I could run it on the side, but they already worked a deal with their employee. I saw the guy who is running it now working at Fred Meyer grocery store a few mos. ago so I have no idea what's up. But i'm thinking something ain't right. You know I like the concept of a reamer rental company and it can't be very hard to run and I'd imagine it can't be a full time gig either. Kinda like the old pizza commercial "put the pizza/reamer in the box" and mail it when it comes back look at it with a comparator for damage and check for sharpness etc. i'm 64 and won't be doing this much longer I hope so i'll just keep buying reamers till the end I guess because this rental stuff just ain't working out for me. Unfortunately it's the age old story start a business build a good rep. and then retire and turn it over to some kid only to run it into the ground.

I feel your pain and it is a pity what they have done

I called ER and left a message..... crickets

I rented 2 times from 4d...... canceled the second one. Delayed on both. Not overly communicating and has all over their website about them dealing with "nice or patient" customers.

Wish there was another option.

Don't waste your time renting effed up reamers from these places. Buy your own and use it to cut your chamber, Then if you don't think you will need it again, sell it. You will be into it for maybe a slightly bit more, But it was a brand new sharp reamer, Not some piece of crap that's done 100 chambers and been sharpened a few times and had people grind notches in it and hand sharpen it.

Not worth it, Been hosed by reamer rental before.
