Eliminating UPS Sure Post

It'll cost you $19.99 to join UPS My Choice Premium. The main thing you get is automatic upgrades to UPS Ground from the Sure Post crap. You can also sign for packages online if you can't be home for a delivery. These are the two most useful benefits for me, there are more. I've been ordering a box of 22 shells with my orders to eliminate Surepost. For me, the My Choice Premium deal will be cheaper. YMMV. Mike

Just another way for UPS to squeeze more out of customers, along with their $5.99 charge to change from home delivery to pickup at a local UPS office. Refusing to accept cash at the local UPS office is another PITA.

I'm finished with UPS and FedEx and their ever changing rules and charges, I've had accounts with both for over 35 years.

FedEx and UPS are a significant order of magnitude more reliable than USPS where I live. I have had Sure Post packages shown as delivered that USPS did not deliver.

Sure post doesn't bother me muuch. My PO knows where my mail goes. In my PO box at the PO. They catch it every time.

UPS and FedEx both give great discounts to high volume shippers that makes them very cost effective. for most of us, it is very seldom that they can compete cost wise with the USPS.

My issue with UPS Surepost and also FedEx Smartpost is the extended delivery time during the hand off from UPS/FedEx to the local post office for final delivery. It typically adds, in some cases, up to five days for delivery. For example my packsge will arrive at the local UPS/FedEx hub 15/18 miles from my house on a Thursday. Do I get it on Friday? Not a chance. More like the following Wednesday. Aaaargh!! Sad part is for free shipping from certain vendors, you are stuck with the Surepost/Smartpost crap. Unless you add in a cheap box of . 22 shells to your order to avoid the handoff (USPS won't deliver ammo). That's getting kinda spendy at this time. It sucks that to get better service from the big carriers I have to pay a fee to get normal delivery from them.
