Eley Bought Out??

Heard a rumor over lunch yesterday, that the Chinese are taking the rimfire event very seriously for the next Olympics and have contracted for the entire production of the Eley factory... Since Eley dominates the Olympics, this certainly could put a severe crimp on the competition, and also just supply of good ammo for us regular guys... Perhaps good news for Lapua though!

Maybe Federal will bring back the gold medal ultra match but I doubt it. Are you listening Federal? This was the ammo with the dimple in the base.

RonAKA,
Now that wouldn't surprise me in the least. But I suspect if anyone knows for sure, Dan Killough of Killough Shootings Sports down in Texas has the info. He is one of the largest if not the largest distributor for Eley Ammo in the US. You can call Dan at 325-754-5771 or email him @ dan@killoughshootingsports.com.

Instead of just jumping in and adding to the runours i actually contacted ELEY direct.
And as far as they are concerned it is exactly as was stated a rumour nothing more.
They are not selling all the production to the chinese neither are they selling the company.
Anyway if the chinese wanted some good ammo hey could just set up some machines and make their own.

They can afford it but somethings you can't by. Eley has some extravagant recipies for the steps and extreme conditions they are manufacturing their top ammo in. temp and humidity documented for one and even make Vittavori document the humidity level and temp for each lot of powder they use in the manufacture of their tenex, which most of their ammo starts out at. I think the Chineese would have to spend quite a few years trying to come close to the quality of any Eley. As far as I'm concearned I have yet to see anything quality from this mass producer of CHEAP THROW AWAY PRODUCTS THAT ARE INFERIOR TO ANYTHING REASEMBLEING QUALITY! ::)
