Elevation Issues

Hi All,

I am quite new at F-Class (12 months) and I have just recently bought a NF BR 12-42 scope. Awesum scope but I have elevation issues at 600. The issue is I run out of elevation. I have the NF mounted on a Barnard P action (6br/.308) which is built on a mastin.

The picitinny rail is 20moa and the scope is using the NF unimount. At 600m elevation is too low and I am needing some expert tution on what I am doing wrong.

I am also very new to the scope.

Any information would be appreciated

is it possible your 20 moa mount is on backwards ? it should be low in the front , and high in the rear . I don't know if this is even possible on your action , but it's my only thought . Jim

Diesel: You did not say what type of scope rings you are using, and I don't even know if they would work with your base, but, assuming your base in properly mounted with the low end toward the muzzle, it would be a simple solution to go with my favorite, the Burris Signature Zee rings with the nylon inserts. With the 30mm rings Burris includes a set of .010" off-set rings, so it's a simple matter to tilt the front of the scope down even further than you're getting with your base mount. I used them on both of my NF BR 12-42's, sighted-in at 500 yd. with a lot of click-ups remaining. Icing on the cake is the added benefit of no ring marks on that very expensive scope tube. ;)

something is backwards in your rings and/or base. That scope should easily have enough internal elevation adjustment on a flat mount for a 600y zero.

Remove the NF Unimount, sell it, and use conventional rings of whatever brand.

Ensure your picatinny rail is mounted so it's angled downward towards the muzzle.

Aren't the unimounts 20moa? Do you have a 20moa picitinny rail and a 20moa unimount? If you want to get rid of that crummy unimount cheap, let me know. ;D Can you post some pictures of your setup?

I will third what they said... I use zee rings on all my scopes

I will second the Burris Signature rings. Been using them for a couple years, work great, no issues.

Thanks very much guys, I thought the rail was on backwards in the first place, so I placed the the high end towards the muzzle. Hmmmmmm I will turn it around again.

Sounds like the NF unimount is no good??? After the top dollar I paid for them, I thought they be a very good investment.

I will put up pics of my toy soon.

Thanks alot for the input.

Change ONE THING at a time.

And yes, you installed the base backwards. No big deal now that you figured it out.

Reversing the base may solve all your problems without having to buy anything else.
