Elevation change from 3900 to sea level

I'm looking to shoot in a 100 yard sniper match in Harlingen, Texas next June. I'm at 3900 feet above sea level and Harlingen is at sea level +- a few feet. It's dry in west Texas and humid down south

I'll be shooting my AR match rifle .223 with Hornady 75 BTHPs. What kind of elevation shift can I expect? Shots will be between 50 and 100 yards.

I don't see where they allow sighters so could I expect a big elevation shift or would it be negligible at 100 yards?

Using 75 gr. BTHP’s seems a little out of place at 100 yards. Using a lighter bullet and getting higher muzzle velocity should just about negate differences for altitude.

I got more info now, it's LEO police games. It's not a real tactical extended range kind of thing you'd expect, it's more of a fun match.

I also found out there's a 50 shot HP match earlier in the day. I can get my zeros there to dial in the ammo for the "sniper match" later in the day.

I'm putting a scope on my match rifle and that's what I'll use. My rifle likes the 75s that's why I was going with that but maybe I'll pick up some 69s to try.

I've shot in these competitions in AZ and NM, lots of fun. There's also a 3-gun match but I don't know if my knee will hold up to that.

If they use the usual type of silhouette target, you should still be able to keep your shots within the X ring/mark. As your POA more than likely will not change more than a 1/2 or less. Find out what target they are using, if you can, and shoot some like it before you head to the competition.
