Element optics

Wondering if anyone has tried them and what there thoughts are? I have a nexus and helix on its way to demo and exited to get into testing. Will be testing them beside a Steiner m7xi, Schmidt pmII, vortex razor gen II, nightforce nxs, Nikon black, vortex razor lh, vortex hs. I will be testing it on a vudoo v22 to start for budget friendly ammo out too 300 yards and then switching it over to my 25 creed to run it through there paces. At there price points I’m excited to see what they have to offer as there reticles look nice and there features. The helix is made in China and the nexus is Japan. Been told made in the same factory as nightforce and vortex so excited to put it against them.

funny my friend just told me yesterday he is thinking of picking one of these up after the holidays, I am very curious my self to see what others have to say, as i have never even heard of them until yesterday

Neither had I! But got 2 coming my way and will do a box test starting monday

I had a look through a helix 6-24x50 sfp model last week.
The glass was very good and was sharp all the way up to 24 power.
It was not mounted on a rifle so I didn't get to test it properly but I was impressed with the optics and features for the price.

Well the elements showed today as well as my razor spotter. Initial impression is these are well made beautiful optics! To start the helix is packaged like a 1500$ plus optic. The turrets feel and sound very good. More tactile then the Nikon black, vortex pst gen 1, vortex hs, Nikon monarch, razor lh, bushnell tactical. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to seriously look at the glass but will be starting tomorrow with the nexus. Have it mounted on the vudoo and will be starting glass comparison with Nikon black, nightforce nxs, Schmidt and bender pm II and vortex razor gen 2.

I have the titan and love it for the 800 price tag nothing compares to it imo. The turrets and zero stop is what makes it great for me

I would really like to get a helix for a cheaper hunting gun. Post what u think of it if u could

In Canada the razor is 3000-3500 and the amg is 3500. The nexus is 2000 dollars so it’s a big jump up to the razor from the nexus here. I also thought the nexus was 1500 in us and the razor ranges from 2000-2500 I thought?

I did a box test, vertical line test, and the aggressively mashed the turrets all over the place for 2 mins, returned them to zero and it was bang on for all tests. So tracking looks good.

Optically/function/feel, I had it side by side with a pm ii 3-20, razor gen 2 4.5-27, and nxs 5.5-22 today. I had a target at 50 and 100, a shed at 475, a tree line from 800-1000 and a cell phone tower at 1500. So far I’m extremely pleased with it.

-As far as turret sound/click goes it in order from best to worst; razor, element, pmII and nxs
- feel ; razor, pmII, element and nxs are close
- ease of zeroing turret; element, then pmII, vortex and nxs are tied
- zero stop feels rock solid on all 4.
- setting zero stop pmII and razor, then element last nxs

Optically the it’s very impressive glass for its price range. Before I put my foot in my mouth, my shooting partner will be here Thursday to get behind all 4 and a Steiner, and my sister is a professional photographer who has been using high end camera equipment for years now and I’ve asked her to also take a look through all of them. I know it’s a different game but she has studied and focused her professional career looking for colour, clarity, CA, brightness and contrast. I’m hoping to post our opinions on glass later in the week after more time behind it.

Hey David,

my apologizes. We are waiting on there titan (middle of there scopes) as it’s suppose to be on its way but haven’t heard anything in a little while.

so far the other two are well above my expectations especially the helix (there low rnd
Scope). The helix just blew us away. It’s glass is very very clear. It’s not really the sharpest image and has some hazing around the outside on powers exceeding 18/19 range but remember it’s a 400-500 dollar optic. On low power it exceeds the Nikon black, vortex hs, vortex viper in our eyes. As far tracking went both optics tracked 100%. We did box testing, the vertical line test, i mashed the heck out of the turrets for 3 mins timed and brought them back to zero and both continued the second half of a 10 shot group (5rounds) with 0 point of impact shift.

the nexus very much impressed me. Being held against optics in a much higher price point then it, we felt it held its own very well. From turret feel, reticle, packaging, glass, tracking. The only thing I feel is below it’s price point is the illumination. On low end it’s near impossible to see (fairly similar to the gen 1 pst) and on max it bleeds out more then usual. Now it isn’t something I ever use but something to be noted. The eye box is very forgiving. The zero stop is rock solid! No mush what so ever. Ease of zeroing turret snd setting zero stop is as simple as it comes. We used the full range of elevation and windage with no issues at all. I have not done any kind of torture testing on it as I have not been giving permission to do so, but have tried my best to replicate being bumped around pretty hard as it wood on a 4x4, horse back, in a boat and haven’t seen a single poi shift. Right now I’ll be adding (from pocket) probably 2 nexus to my line up and 1 helix. I’m just waiting for the titan to arrive to get a better feel of there range in optics before placing an order.

I have ran both the nexus and the helix to 350 yards with a 22 in practice multiple times. Shot one match with each. I then placed them on my 260 rem and taken them to 750yards and had 100% repeatability and then tried a minor recoil test with my 12ish lbs 300 Norma throwing 215’s at 3150fps with and with a brake. But i was more of a torture test for my shoulder then anything once the brake came off lol

Thanks for write up. I’ll give the helix consideration on my next scope purchase. Illuminated is not an issue for me. I pulled the batteries in both my nxs’s because I don’t want then to go bad and corrode.

Lol, that unboxing sequence escalated quickly. The box. Lid removed. Foam removed. Top paperwork removed. Mounted on a rifle.

Matt 3479, two years later, are you still happy with your Helix 6-24x50 SFP scope purchase? I was thinking of putting one on a CZ 452 UL for paper punching at 100 yards.

TIA,
Bill

I’ve sold the helix but i personally wouldn’t hesitate to throw it on. It worked really well. Tracked perfect, optics were decent for the money, features were good, reticle was good. I still have the titan and nexus but sold the helix

I saw your post and I thought I would pass this along. I ordered a Sightron SIII 6x24x50 SFP Mil dot last week from Cameraland NY for $500. For some reason that one particular model is on sale. The other SIII's are $1100 and up. If that reticle works for you, these scopes and this company has a great reputation.

I bought it to put on a my CZ 452 Synthetic or my Tikka T1x.
