electronic targets and super/trans/sub sonic recordings

are there electronic target systems that will record shot velocities in the above velocity ranges.
this would be good to know for pistol, rimfire, long range smokeless rifle, and black powder rifle.
my own interest is black powder rifle which starts at 1300 to 1400 fps, and is doing about 800 fps at 1000 yds.

jlow,
thanks for the reply.
it would seem that some targets use a kind of visual system, where they "see" the bullet.
this works well for small targets at close range, but not so well for the bigger targets required at longer ranges.
the big targets tend to use acoustic sensing, relying on the shockwave.
with so little knowledge of this, it is hoped that more experienced people will chime in.

bruce.

My understanding is that the systems that use a traditional 'echo chamber', i.e. Kongsberg, Hexta, etc. should be able to detect sub-sonic rounds okay. This is the same sort of setup used for Olympic smallbore competition. There is a rubber membrane under the target face, and on the back side of the frame, and the microphones are inside that chamber, so noises from adjacent targets, wind, etc. has little or no effect. As far as I know, only the systems that use external microphones i.e. Silver Mountain, have significant problems with reliably detecting subsonic target impact. That is a large part of why the SMT system is so much less expensive than the others - the targets themselves are much less complex.

The Silver Mountain system will not function with projectiles passing through subsonically. We have a serious long range BP shooter who uses our range and he has his own remote camera system to literally see the bullet holes.

well hexta aussie made targets work at 500 meters with a 40/72 shooting 440 gn elliptical pp bullets at a m.v of 1330 fps.
