Electronic gun safe locks and EMP's

Was just listening to Tom Gresham's "Gun Talk" on the radio. A caller asked if an EMP would affect an electronic keypad on a gun safe. Tom thought the keypad probably would be harmed or disabled but couldn't say for sure. Imagine not being able to access firearms during a national emergency!

We've been discussing EMP on another thread. S&G claims that some models of their electronic locks have been tested and certified EMP resistant. Cannon no longer uses S&G locks but makes one safe that has a mechanical combination backup. I'm trying to learn more about the S&G lock on my safe. ITMT, I leave the safe unlocked when I'm at home.
