Ejector spring removal defiance bolt

Rookie here but trying to learn. Removed my ejector on my defiance bolt. Punched the pin, removed the plunger, but cannot get the spring to come out. Anything I am missing here? Put the plunger back in and applied tension with an empty base. That all felt normal and confirmed the spring is still in there in my mind.

Sorry for the rookie question but I’m trying to take this year to learn a more than just pulling a trigger. Appreciate any help.

Probably just a little bit of built-up crud... straighten out a paperclip, put a slight hook on it and pull the spring out. Good luck

Thanks Bob. Got it out via the paper clip. No noticeable crud but the spring has a little resistance going back in the hole. Flipped the spring and had close to the same. Odd but functional.
