Ejector-less 700?

Hi all, new(ish) here, but have been lurking for some time and reading lots of great threads.
My question is, can I run my Rem 700 without the ejector? I already use it as a single shot, and it wouldn't bother me to handpick my fired brass out of chamber. (old and slow shooter . . . that's me)
My thinking is with the ejector removed, the loaded cartridge would feed a little straighter into chamber and also not get the (slight) ding on case mouth upon extraction.
Thoughts? Comments?

Sure, lots of people do it. Consider plugging the hole if you shoot high-pressure loads.

I don't want my brass to get dented .
Kiff made my bolt heads without the ejector hole in them . Larry

I run all mine without them. I like to pick my brass out and put it right back in the box. Don't worry about plugging the hole, no big deal. It won't help feeding but it will stop the ejection dent on the case mouth.

This is my XP-100 bolt that has the ejector hole filled. It's a 6 Dasher.

You don't have to replace the ejector but it would be nice to fill the hole. If you have the capability you can turn a pin to replace it. Just need a small milled or ground slot for the retainer go bare on and remove a few coils from the spring.

You could also grind enough coils off the spring to weaken it so that it only pivots the brass out for you to remove manually.

Shorten spring to just contact case head and replace. Still have to pick case out and its a good place to store the parts.

I have quite a large selection of springs. Quite sure I'll have one to fit,(or modify to fit) will probably use one of them and save the original.

Anybody have an idea how long it will take for my "Site $$ Contributor" status to become active? I paid in about three days ago.
