egg holder

What do you use to hold the eggs for 500 yd egg shoots?
Stiff wire with loop bent into top?
Think I saw pictures of small orange safety cone with egg sitting or top?
Are spotters watching to make sure shooter hits the egg and not the egg holder?
Want to have an egg shoot after a match, just don't know the best way to go abut it.
Thanks

Save up your empty cardboard toilet paper / paper towel cores, then stick them into a hold drilled into a piece of 1x4 lumber, or tape them into place.

You can use a water-filled windshield washer fluid or gallon bleach bottle too.

Either are just right to hold an egg big-end-down, as long as you have something safe to rest the makeshift egg-holder on down-range.

At my Egg Shoot I use string Hot glued to the egg. Put a small spot of glue on the bottom of the egg and rap the string to the top and glue at top. tie the string to the target frame, or I use drive in post, tie a rope between the post and tie the eggs to the rope.

I did a search today about egg shoots looking for rules about hitting the egg stand and how to score. One match rule states that if you hit the stand and the egg falls to the ground and breaks it counts as a hit. If it doesn't break its a miss unless you shoot it on the ground and hit it.
I think this weekend, if it gets below 103 degrees, I will hang some eggs from dental floss hot glued to them and see what happens. If the shooter gets lucky and cuts the string above the egg I guess we can use the rules stated above.
Thanks

get some good quality velcro strips and attach the egg to a board painted black, also if you don't hit the egg itself it should not count as a hit,my opinion.

Off to the store this morning to get some velcro.
Could hot melt glue the eggs directly to the corroplast backer too!

The egg shoot I attend uses stiff wire, coathangers?) with a loop on top. This keeps the eggs roughly 8' above a horizontal 2x4. It also keeps them still in the wind. String will have them blowing around like crazy. Mounted to a board will allow the shooter to spot their misses. Not fair in my opinion:)
Safety cones might have unscrupulous shooters aiming for the larger cones in hope of an upset.

I think the wire is the best method. Very easy to reset eggs also and hits/misses need not be judged. If the egg disappears it was a hit not a miss that upset the egg holder device.

Knee high pantie hose
slide the egg in the middle, tie a knot on either side of the egg and then stretch it between two points. We used re bar but there is a lot of things that will work
