Edgewood

Some time ago I ordered a new front and rear bag from Edgewood, I was using the front and the new yellow and black rear bag made by Protektor for my Lowrider stock but all the time I was not happy with them, every time I had to adjust a lot to get back on target and the rifle was just not riding the bags the way it should. Due to the cut out underneath the butt-end of the stock I was a bit limited in bags to use so I decided to order Edgewood's standard rear bag and two weeks ago it arrived, I ordered it 4" high, medium size ears and three stitches, now the bottom of the butt touches the top of the rest and it rides just perfect with the medium ears giving excellent support. I was a bit concerned about having enough space for recoil but I have about 2 1/4" space before the end of the grip touches the front of the bag so this is enough for free recoil and now I can shoot without adjusting so much all the time to get back on target. The front bag fits my Sinclair rest top completely and I am very happy with my new set up. If anyone else is using the Lowrider and isn't too happy with his set up I can recommend these bags, for this stock they give perfect stability to your rifle.

Low -- I also had Protektor build one to my spec, and it works well too.

std. 5x6 footprint, heavy donut base.

4" high,i think)

low, 3" long cordura ears

thick piece of leather btwn bag bod and ears to keep the pistol grip from bashing off the bag on recoil.

will try and find a pic...

Didn't know that Protektor also made their bags to customer specs but I am glad to here it works well for you. For me it was kind of a wild guess when I ordered the Edgwood for I am the only one here using the Lowrider and most of the bags you see here are Protektors although more Edgewood bags are showing up but I am glad it turned out well.
It is not quiet clear to me what you mean by what you wrote and I am curious to see a pic of your Protektor.

oops, "body"

it serves to elevate the ears from the body of the bag.

Now I understand why I couldn't find the word in the English dictionary, got a headache from trying to figure out what it meant haha.
It is clear to me now but I'm still a bit curious how it looks.

Just found the article about your rifle and I enjoyed reading it, that is some mighty impressive shooting if I may say so, I'm afraid I'm not quiet there yet and I have my doubts I ever will hehe. The two pictures made it very clear to see the difference between the two bags and although I can't take any measurements my guess is that I have about the same space for recoil as it is with your bag. I have my hopes up that my groups will get better with this set up for I have been bothered with fliers most of the time, drove me crazy), I guess I have to start doing ladder tests all over again but now I've got a good feeling about it .
Exellent job you did on the clear coat.

THanks Paul...thought the pic was aropund somewhere!

Actually I have started using the bar turned the other way than it shows in the pic...as long as the bag is filled taughtly, there is no issue with the pistol grip hitting the bag.

Note: Would you believe that 2 gunsmiths at Williamsport 1KBR Club were belly-achin to the Board because they thought I was using the pistol grip as a stop and therefore CHEATING the rule that says "...nothing that hinders rearward movement of the rifle under recoil...",or something close to that)

HAH! Like I would WANT the rifle to smack the rear bag out of position every time i fired it!

Jason, I have been shooting with the Low-rider for about 4 months. I was told that the Low-rider is not legal to use in the light gun class, but I could use it in the heavy class. The comment was about the forend and not the handle.

Who told you this? They are misinformed.

The forend is just fine for Williamsport Light Gun Class...and Heavy gun...I shot it in both, all year, and this has already been resolved.

In short range BR, what is legal or illegal for group, is the same for score. We are talking varmint class group shooting and Varmint for Score shooting. Same rules apply as for the stocks. The lowrider or undertaker are not legal for either. Richard does make a nice looking short range profile stock, but I've yet to see one except on his website. I've got a #10 varmint stock of his that I really like and I've considered a curly maple BR stock but I'd like to hear from someone else whose got one before I drop a bunch of $$$'s on one.
