Edgewood vs Farley vs Protektor Front Bag

What, if any, is the advantage of the Edgewood bag over the other two bags for the CoAx II rest?

Thanks.

Dennis

I have the new Farley rest and never used the bag it came with, it had a hole in it when it arrived and was leaking the heavy sand but i did put it in the rest but didn't like the way it fit, rifle which has a tracker stock was only riding on the outside edge of the stock, bag was kinda scrunched up. I went with a Edgewood bag and it fits nicely and stays nice and flat all the way across, keeps it shape well once you get the desired amount of sand in it, by the way I use reptile sand from a pet store real fine and almost as heavy as heavy sand,I also take a wooden dowel stick and insert it into the fill hole on my bags and push the sand into all the voids gives the bag its intended shape and gets it nice and heavy, gets all the wrinkles out ;)

You have to test everything. I use an edgewood front bag with heavy sand in it, even though its a well known fact you cant use heavy sand in a front bag and not get vertical. I tried the new 3m slick material and got terrible vertical.

^^^^ True. The generally observed rule is one (1) bag can be hard, but not both. But YMMV as "hard" can be very subjective. I would be suspect of having a set-up that is too slick as used in Short Range BR. Agreed you want the stock/ bag friction to be constant, however with short range stocks having toe angles, it would be difficult to maintain the preferred position of the stock ( touching the rest stop) while shooting free recoil.

Twelve years competitive experience in Registered BR (IBS -Score) using multiple front bags, rear bags, and numerous combinations thereof with cordura and leather ears including silicon sprays, bag waxes, used dryer sheets, and even teflon powder used for tuning pianos. I have settled on untreated cordura that is brushed just before a shooting session and waxing the stock.

LHSmith,
I guess we have had similar experience, maybe I have 30yrs. experience. I was a slow learner and bought everything that came out. We use what fits us and what we believe in. That is why so much is available as we all like something else.
I like Protector bags with slippery cloth. It suits me. If you like your setup, great.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! It appears that, like many things in BR, personal preference matters a LOT. I'm not unhappy with my Farley bag, just thinking of options.
