I ordered an EC Tuner V2 and a 10-28 adapter from Cortina Precision's website. When I received the two parts, they were already screwed together all the way down to the end of the thread. When I tried to unscrew them to separate the parts, they were so tight that I couldn't rotate either with my bare hands. I had to place the adapter into a vise and use both hands to gradually turn the tuner little by little which took some time. I'm no Incredible Hulk, but I'm no 95 pound weakling either. That's how tight the fit was and I knew that wasn't normal based on some of the videos I had watched before buying it. When I finally got the parts separated, I removed the o ring from the tuner and examined it. It appears to be made of a hard and dense material which doesn't compress very easily and I think is why, along with the installed spring, made it so tight and difficult to turn the tuner when installed on the adapter. I'm pretty sure this isn't the correct o ring that should have been installed and I can't believe that Cortina not only installed it in my tuner but also turned it down all the way to the bottom of the thread which must have taken a lot of time and effort. Didn't they realize something was wrong while they were doing this? I guess another possibility is that someone else bought it, replaced the o ring for some reason with an incorrect one, then returned it and Cortina didn't inspect it before reselling it. I've messaged Cortina several times this past week detailing the problem and have not received a single reply. I've asked them if they could just mail me the correct o ring so I could replace it myself. Radio silence. I understand that mistakes can happen, but when you pay $245.00 + shipping and receive a defective product and the seller won't do anything to correct it or even reply to you, that's unacceptable and doesn't speak well to Cortina Precision.
So I guess I'm on my own and need to find a replacement, but am unsure of the correct size and material. Has anyone out there replaced the o ring on their EC Tuner V2? Is it metric or SAE, what are the dimensions, and what type of rubber is best? I've tried measuring it with my caliper but am not sure of the accuracy of my measurements. Any help would be appreciated.
