Ebony fore end tip?

GAnderson

Gold $$ Contributor
How is the fore end tip attached on a Remington stock and what is the best way to remove it? I have a stock that has a slight gap at the top on both sides and would like to somehow get it to fit flush. Any ideas how to maybe just fill the gaps and make it look OK? Thanks

A lot of people put them on with a couple dowels. Epoxy can be dyed black and could be used to fill the crack possibly.

The best way to fix it is to fill it with epoxy, like Twdmar said. Trying to take it off can turn into a nightmare.

Mix black clothing die ( comes in a bottle ) into 2 part Devcon epoxy. 1 drop at a time until it`s no longer translucent black, but pitch black.

Hope this helps

Thanks for all the replies. Ironically, the black fore end tip is actually a "plastic" type material that is hollowed out and fits over a somewhat "cone" shaped piece of the wood stock on the end. It is just glued or epoxied on. I generally use Devcon, so will get a black die as mention above and just Devcon the tip back in place and the "squeeze" out should fill in the ever so slight sliver of a gap. Thanks again
