EBAY Boycott needed

Thud

Gold $$ Contributor
In light of recent developments at EBAY concerning "Gun Parts". I think as concerned sportsmen we as a group should boycott EBAY for all our sporting needs. You should talk to your family, friends and others to boycott them for any purchase. The only way to let our voice be heard is one concerning the almighty Dollar. I have started to ask friends and others to do the same. So pass this on and post on other sites. Show your POWER.

I agree completly. I tried to send them a message. Unfortunately I couldn't get an e-mail listing for them. Seems like they don't want to hear from the people.

I for one will not buy from them. As soon as I found out about Pay-pal and their policies I cancled that account.

I haven't patronized e-bay for years, mainly because they disgust me. Any company that bans firearms but allows the most vile pornography on its site doesn't deserve a decent citizens business. I haven't used Pay-Pal since it was bought by e-bay.

I encourage everyone I meet to stop doing business with e-bay, but what has been discouraging is when I hear "but I get such good deals there" from people who should be more principled than that!

I don't even see why people use E-Bay AT ALL anymore. Not just for firearms. With the advent of the commercial sellers and e-bay stores, now ebay is like a cheap knockoff of Amazon.com.

I used to love ebay because I could go on there any day of the week and get awesome deals on anything I wanted. Private sellers would go there to sell things they no longer needed or wanted. I almost always bought things at 50% off the retail price. Nowadays, you search for anything and it's just page after page after page of Buy-It-Now listings from commercial sellers. They all the same products at the same prices. If I wanted to buy something for retail, I'd go to an online store, not Ebay. I go to Ebay for deals.... but alas not anymore. The last time I used them was to buy an Oehler 35P for $200. That's probably my last purchase from that stupid site.

I just dropped my paypal account..this is crazy...does anyone remember a few years ago when ebay had a Royal Navy, fully operational aircraft carrier for sale? something`s way wrong here...

What are “recent developments at EBAY concerning "Gun Parts"?

Read all about it in the July 31 Daily Bulletin!

MODERATOR: Here is the text of the Bulletin item:

eBAY Bans Sales of Gun Parts and Reloading Components

On July 30th, internet auction site eBay announced it will change its current policies regarding sales/auctions of gun parts and reloading components. Currently, one cannot sell firearms on eBay, nor live ammunition, nor a variety of “black-listed” gun accessories such as high-capacity magazines. Now, eBay will prohibit the sale of “any firearm part that is required for the firing of a gun.” This will include brass, bullets, and barrels. The new policy was announced by Matt Halprin, eBay Vice President:

“In mid-August, we will be updating our Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy to place more restrictions around gun-related items. Once these changes take effect, we will prohibit listings of any firearm part that is required for the firing of a gun. This includes items like bullet tips [sic], brass casings and shells, barrels, slides, cylinders, magazines, firing pins, trigger assemblies, etc. Please read the Firearms, Weapons and Knives Policy for more details on our current policy.

As you may know, eBay does not allow the listing of any items which are regulated by individual states or the federal government; however, there are still a large number of firearm-related parts that are legal and are widely available in retail stores. These items have also historically been allowed on eBay.

After learning that some items purchased on eBay may have been used in the tragedy at Virginia Tech in April 2007, we felt that revisiting our policies was not only necessary, but the right thing to do. After much consideration, the Trust & Safety policy team – along with our executive leaders at eBay Inc. – have made the decision to further restrict more of these items than federal and state regulations require. This new update… brings our policies in the U.S. and Canada in closer alignment with our existing policies in other markets around the globe.”

I have terminated my eBay account, and did not do it happily. I am an avid eBay shopper and have saved thousands of dollars on purchases I have made there, from a mini lathe to bullets and scopes. I'm proud to have had 75 eBay transactions with a 100% rating. Yes, it's commercial; yes, it's being overrun with professional sellers, but there are still many good people on there buying and selling stuff at great savings. I'll miss it. But there comes a time when you just have to have the conviction of your beliefs and this is one of those times. I'm not a rich man but I try to never spend money at places which are openly anti-gun. You can go to the NRA-ILA site to see a list of corporations and "famous" people who are documented as anti-firearms.

The owners of eBay are like the Beatles -- they made a little money and now they want to control the world. Not with my dollar, if I can help it.

This would be a very good focal point for hunters, shooters, handloaders, and gun aficionados to unite and show our true numbers. I have sent eBay a calm and controlled email stating my position, your can email them at this email address. Please try not to rant and rave but offer sensible concerned objections followed by a request to cancel your account,if you have one).

"A man with a gun is a citizen -- a man without a gun is a servant."

Reed G,
i just logged on to the list you posted. Very imformative indeed! Was very shocked to see American Firearms Association on this list,??) Am I missing something here?
I too dropped my membership. When the shooting season is over, i`m a huge collector of old shortwave radios and have found dozens on ebay. Stuff you can`t find anywere else. Oh well, you`re right...gotta stand up for what you believe in.
The celeberty list is quite disturbing too... chris

I have 2 orders in the process right now that started prior to the changes. As soon as they are complete my E-Bay days are done.

I just went to egay to read the statement again. Well folks it's gone. So maybe they have rethought their policy? I don't know. But if anyone out there does maybe the people do wield the ultimate power.

If that is the case time to get this country back to what the forefather’s meant for it to be. Freedom of arms, the guilty get appropriate punishment, and other countries can kiss our can.

It's still there. Click on announcements and scroll down to July 30. Apparently they have stopped accepting email at their support@ebay.com email site. There isn't any way I can find to send them an email addressing this issue. All their sites will only let you respond to their subjects. That's a nice open-minded way to deal with the issue. One would surmise that they have received lots of complaints and have just shut off the source.

One of the complaints I have always had with the liberal mindset is that they refuse to show the very "tolerance" they demand from others to those who disagree with them.

The only chance of impact we have is if everyone who wants to save our 2nd Amendment rights will truly boycott eBay to the point that our economic impact will overcome their "attitude" to control our lives. This a real opportunity to vote with your wallet and defend the right of legal citizens to buy/sell legal products online without interference from those who perceive themselves to be in control.

Yep it sure is. I guess i completly looked over it. Oh well. They have the right to do what they want. And so do I. Egay can kiss my can.

So of course the question remains...where to go? I do a lot of business with GunBroker, and will probably list bullets, brass, and of course guns there in the future. Does anybody else have a preference?
