eastern wa long range match ( sportsman's challenge )

i went out yesterday and looked at the land where this match will be held. what a beautiful day it was. we have a good spot just rite behind the lodges and club house at miller ranch that we will be shooting from. it is maybe a 200 yard walk, there will also be some driving access up near where the shooting positions will be.

i received two more boxes from sponsors today and there are many more sponsorships that i have already for this match. lots of cool awards, gift certificates and more. there will be some shirts available with match logos and there are a couple offers from sponsors for 50% off that will be available to shooters at the match. i have a couple items that will be there for sale which the money that comes from the items will go to the cost of this first match.

i have posted pictures of some of the target work on my website and will continue to post pictures of the set up, the match and the post match.

if you have not signed up or are not sure if you want to come, sign up and come it will be fun!

Very Nice prize/auction lineup. I need to go double check my drop charts when I get some time. I also plan on shooting F-Class in Tri-Cities on Friday, then the Sportsmans' challenge on Saturday. It's going to be a busy week!

Caleb,
I am sorry for cutting you short the other night on the phone we were all in a camp trailer and were all asleep, if they weren't there I would have talked, after our match I was going to call but I forgot, I will call you or you can call me tomorrow nightI will be at home thank you.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to the sportsman’s challenge match. I had a great time meeting and getting to know all of you and look forward to seeing you guys and many more at future events. There were 30 shooters and many more supporters that attended. We had guys shooting at a small game course while 40 yards or so away there were guys shooting at the big game course. The steel held up really well though I can’t say the same for the big game frames and some of the material used to hang the plate. In all I think things went really well for my first of many shoots to come. Here are some of the results for the big and small game courses. Along with a picture of one banged up antelope.

Thanks again and I hope to see all of you guys again,
Caleb Hallett

A big thanks to Caleb and his awesome crew! This was definitely a successful first time event; lots of planning payed off and everyone had a good time. Also a big thanks to the sponsors, without them this event wouldn't have been financially possible.

Both courses (big game/small game) were set up just like a real hunting scenario, you first had to find the game, range it and do all the necessary adjustments. Then hit a true to life size vital area of a big game animal, or any portion of the small game to receive one point on your first shot, try again but only get a half-point.

We've seen many calibers and configurations at the challenge: anything from AR-10/15, 338 Edge canyon rifles, 338LM TRG-42, carbon wrapped barrel ultra-mags, M-700 .308 Police sniper rifle to my fully custom 308 F/TR. It was interesting to see what worked.

A few guys shot as teams helping each other out on spotting and wind calls. Others like myself came alone, but Caleb was kind enough to spot for me, and hold my field diagram with the ranges/drops.

It was a place you could gather information and tell stories and meet other sportsman, even kids and mothers were present, so it was fun for everyone.

The course was laid out very well in my opinion; although Caleb said he will mix it up and it will be different each competition.

The game in the lower right started out at 450 and worked on out to 950 where the moose is standing on the hillside:
