Dulling the blueing

I have a Winchester pump with a short barrel that I had screw in chokes installed. Use it for Coyote hunting in brush. It is too darn shiny. Think I could take my sand blaster to it, to dull it up, without removing or causing too much damage to the blueing?

I don't think you are going to have much luck with any of the common abrasives like glass beads, AO, garnet or Sand. Anything that has sharp edged or breaks down into sharp edges will take it right off.

Have you considered something like Cerakote?

You will ruin the bluing, hunt up a rattle can of Rustoleum Professional flat black and have at it....
That stuff holds up very well....

Why not use "hunting tape". Something that you can wrap the gun in without ruining the integrity of the bluing?

I guess if it doesn't really bother you to alter than gun, painting it is a very simple solution.

I don't think paint will hurt the blueing but past wax will dull the finish if you don't buff it and protect the blueing from rusting

Thanks for the input, but I have already painted it. I didn't paint the stock. Perhaps one day I will remove the paint. Don't much like it anyway.
