DTAC's in the 6XC - Are they going to shoot?

I didn't know any better way to title this, so I'll try to eliminate any confusion directly. I'm building a 6XC at the moment, and I'm really just waiting on the reamer to arrive and I should be good to go. I'm having the reamer ground specifically for the 115 DTAC. Here is my issue. Cost is always a factor, especially in a household with two kiddos under 3. I'm nervous about spending $125 for 500 DTAC's and then for some reason not being able to get them to shoot. I know that this would be unlikely, but I also know that there are few guarantees in this world other than death, rising prices, etc.

So the question is, am I worrying about nothing? Should I go ahead and just order the 500 ct. box, because they're going to shoot and if they don't I'm doing something wrong... or do I try to find someone who would be willing to sell me a small quantity, rather than risk ending up with a box of 400+ bullets that wont shoot?

MT 6XC, I should be good to go in terms of the config. The purpose of the build was to be able to shoot the 115's. I've got a Bartlein 1:7.5. The reamer is the same profile that Dave makes for Tubbs for the 115's with a .148 leade. As for planned loading, the reigning concensus is to start with H-4350 which is something I use a lot of already, so I was giong to start there. Then maybe try RL17, and so on. I have no reason to doubt that it'll work considering the reamer, twist, etc. but again nothing is certain. I just thought I'd see if anyone else had done a similar build and ended up with a gun that didn't like it.

I could always dump the bullets on the forum of course but I'd prefer not to have to!

I have used the unturned Norma brass with success , I like the neck tension with HBN 115 DTACs right at.002 . Wolf primers. Tubb 115 reamer.

I ended up with .020 off the lands, and that seat depth was still well in front of the case neck donut .

38.0 grains H4350. Was where my rifle settled in, that's good for 2920 fps, on my 26 inch tube.



I think the Sierra pointed HBN DTACS are easy to get to shoot.

Excellent. That's what I was hoping to hear. Again, I didn't really figure I'd have any trouble but I just thought I'd get some feedback from folks who had done it. I'm going to be running Norma brass as well and was planning on running the HbN DTAC's. Haven't decided on final length on the tube yet, but I'm thinking I'll have it finished at 29". Now I just have to get the dies/bushings ordered, and wait for the reamer.

This statement is just my opinion, but I take loaded round measurement and get 2 dies from Forster , full length dies but have them honed in the neck to .002 and .003 below the loaded round neck diameter, I use .266 and.267 honed out Forster dies for my unturned Norma brass, again, just my technique, but I feel the fl dies give me less body and neck runout than messing with the bushing dies, of which I Also have but don't use anymore.

My rifle loves them. 7.7 bartlien 30 " . I run 39 grains of 4350 behind the uncoated version, loaded way off the lands . Shot my third clean in a row.
My load is on the hot side.

Understood. Thanks for the info. The plan was to get a .268 and .267 bushing and roll with that for now but I'll give it some thought. I'll have to see how that aligns with the budget. Keep in mind too here that while I'd ultimate love to us the rifle for F-class, I'm mainly just building it for fun. I'm going to try not to put too much pressure or myself on this particular build/gun... that may change.
