DTAC 115gn Boron Nitride or Bare

I called Superior Shooting Systems today looking to order some 6mm 115gn bullets. The man on the other end of the phone recommended I try the Boron Nitride coated bullets over the bare ones (both were in stock) I have used in the past. So I asked why and was told I could expect a 5 to 10% increase in velocity and no to little POI chance with a cold fouled barrel. I would like to hear from anyone who has used both and what their experience has been. The 5 to 10% velocity gain IMO is unrealistic but then I have never worked with a coated bullet be it Moly or Boron Nitride,

Thanks in advance, TimP

Using Moly or Boron Nitride, you will have to bump your powder load up just to get back to your starting point! I personally haven't heard anything about a 10% increase. I am sure plenty will jump in on this one!

and no to little POI chance with a cold fouled barrel

I understand this to be true, I use a different process to achieve the above.

If I ever start shooting 1k yds cconsistantly, I probably will use Moly or Boron Nitride! Most long range shooters won't use anything else!

I have shot both with a 6XC. Frankly I used the HBN to keep copper fouling to a minimum. But then with a custom barrel fouling is not a huge problem. I did not really see any velocity advantage and you will need to use more powder to compensate for the lower pressures of coated bullets.
I now shoot bare bullets for Long Range and Palma. I clean every 200-400 rounds with no problems or loss of accuracy and I am not the only one doing so...
