I'm in the market. Hornady used to make but no more. Anyone know of someone making a similar kit? thx

I forgot about that. thx. I have more sockets than I need. will check for fit. I used to have a benchsource but sold it. Have more time than money these days so figured i'd try the 'other' method!

The hornaday tool was only an apex hex drive with an aluminum piece on the end that is no different than using a socket.

I put a dowel rod in a 1/4 in deep socket chuck it up and you are good to go. Tommy Mc Use a deep socket this will prevent the flame from getting to close to the web.

Is this what you're looking for?
Like a previous poster I used to use deep sockets until I bought an Annealeze, which I love. But... it won't do 50BMG so I bought a mandrel from Little Crow. Works great.

Yes thx. thats what I want!. I havent annealed in 5 yrs but did it today with the socket method. Worked fine but being arse retentive the socket wobble bugged me so willing to pay a few bucks for ones that spins straight!
yup - 30 deg angle on the base of neck with a narrow flame torch, look inside the case mouth for the cherry red glow before the yellow flame appears and stop! like riding a bicycle!
I drilled a small hole in my drill trigger so I could pin it on very low rpm. I also rigged my torch head with a 6 ft adapter hose to a 5 gal can so no freezing and varying pressures. Thats what I did with my old annealing machine.

Almost went that same route once, and then I found the cheapie Hitachi drill with a locking wheel for speed adjustment.

I had a benchsourse previously. It was a nice machine, missing a few tweaks that I fixed, but after I did this oakie method I realized that I could do 100 cases in about the same time with one torch. 4 seconds more per x 100 = 5 min more but compared with setup of machine its a wash. Not that I am that pressed for time.

I'm a hot fingers guy myself. I try to anneal straight out of the post SS media tumble rinse. The case heads are cool, and the brass gets dried.

I use the case holder that comes with the K&M neck turning kit. You have to rotate the threads to lock and unlock the case. It takes a couple seconds. There may be something a little faster but i don't do that many cases a year. Don't know if they sell it separate from the neck turning kit.
