Im sure its been covered here before , but hey Im lazy with bad eyes... But Im on the verge of having my first dream gun built. Thinking of the 338 Big Bear as my caliber, Would very much like some input on some experienced shooters as to what combination of action , barrel and stock ,trigger etc .combinations to look at , I dont really want a wood stock , They are beautiful but im clumsy. Im interested in some sort of fairly lightweight tactical stock.
Im a big bore fan , although my favorite rifle is my 17 rem. I have never been on a site like this so please take it easy on me, if I accidenatlly disturb protocol.
I am pretty sold on a Bear caliber cause i like the guy and hes local to me. But he told me to start looking at what i want as far as dressing for the scope..lol

So here I am with questions galore and just needing some more experienced suggestions to take to him to do his stuff

Wow, I don't know! Your saying 338 Big Baer and light weight in one question! Is this gonna be for competition purposes or just a all around hunting/target gun? I like Hart barrels and know that Baer has used and won with Hart but I would choose a nice beefy action with integral scope mount or something like that.. I like laminate stocks and composite, a nice tactical/bench laminate with a bedding block would be Bobby Hart A10 EXT. I think the McMillan F-class could be semi tactical and of course competition worthy if you had it inletted for a PTG bottom metal or something similar! I would recommend a 300 WSM or 300 WM for something that isn't gonna be the size of a Baer gun and would add a muzzle brake to any of them..

I am thinking a semi lightweight tactical hunter. He showed me some of his personal guns and they all have some weight too them , I know thats gonna be a fact with a caliber such as that. i already have a 50 BMG , 338 lapua and 7 STW. I like the bigger bores , I may end up with a 308 Bear also in the near future. I liked the predator action he uses also , but not sure if thtas suitable for the 338BB. We kind of decided on a custom fluted barrel and brake just wanna really fucus I guess on a composite stock thats fairly adjustable without looking all OD. I thought there would be alot of input on this , but its all good. Im just fishing for ideas to take to him. If its was up to me id put the one stock he has there on one of his personals to the T , but that aint right in my eyes.
I just really like the thought of a bullet that has less than 1 second of travel at 1000 yards... Takes alot of the guesswork out of it for a dummie like me.
