Dream 1000 Yard Benchrest Rifle

michaelnel

Old and In The Way
If you were designing your dream rifle to use for 600 and 1000 yard benchrest (NBRSA style) shooting, what components would you spec?

Cartridge
Action
Barrel
Stock

Thinking about getting something built.

Thanks!
Michael

Bat MB spiral fluted bolt, 20moa base
Krieger 8 twist heavy target 6.5-06 35* shoulder finished at 30"
Tooley/McMillan BR stock
Bix & Andy or Jewell 1.5oz trigger
2014 NF Comp scope

Nothing different except that I'd use a Borden BRM action. Don't need to be worked over by Dwight Scott to have correct timing and ignition.

I have just what you are looking for 8)

Panda F-Class with draft & drop bolt-RT/RT, Shehane ST-1000, Bartlein, removable WTC muzzle brake with thread protector, Jewell, WTC die, 6.5x55 BJI, LAPUA & RWS brass, Al Warner build, unfired.

Dasher built by a great Smith..Borden or Bat action in a MBR or Shehane, Broughton or Krieger 6mm 28" 1-7.5, Harrel spiral brake, Jewel or Bix trigger, Nightforce comp or a March.Add a load of sorted bullets to make it talk.

If shooting 600 I would do a dasher but if I was shooting 1000 and under bad conditions and you can handle recoil I wouldn't rule out a 300 WSM. Matt

A 1:7.5 twist over 1:8 for 105's?

CAL 6 mm Dasher
Action One that I can shoot 10 shots in 5 seconds
Barrel Long enough to shoot 3300' FPS accurate
Stock One that tracks perfectly for all 10 shots and the gun still weighs under 17LB
