Last Friday and Saturday the Dome hosted an informal steel shoot. Doug and Julie Roberts from Indy, Bill and Peggy McMurray from Rogersville, Tn, Kermitt and son Tucker from Virginia, Wade from Murfreesboro, Tn, Steve Perry from Scottsville, Ky, Sam Kooger with 45 / 70 Sharpes and Clarence Wolfe from Somerset, Ky plus locals Shayne Halliburton, Junebug, Sam Moore, Troy Mungle, Anthony Hale. Friday mid-afternoon they began to arrive from out of town. Most popular Friday evening was the 300 yard 6 flapper plate. Kermitt's 6 BR put the whipping on Bill's 6 x 47 but Bill evened things up when he went to the car and pulled out his 6 BR. Tucker was shooting a 260 AI.
Saturday things heated up with Kermitt challenging Bill to the 500 yard challenge rack with the 5th a plate being a small 2" x 3" plate. Then Tracy got into the mix and can't remember what he was shooting. The guys cleaned the rack down to the blackjack plate but no one cleaned the rack past the first four plates. Now a couple or three guys hit the blackjack plate on the second or third attempt. Junebug and I were not shooting. We were spotting, and repainting targets.
Later in the day after most had left, Bug and I set up a egg rack at 238 yards and Bug and Troy had a grudge match there. After cleaning the rack a second time Junebug had hung a single egg at 300 yards. He took no sighter and vaporized the egg on first shot. He was shooting a new "PREFIT" 6 BRAI barrel on a Pierce action. Bullet was the 103 Vapor Trail. Next he went to 500 yards, shot three sighters on big plate, then said watch to 2"x3" blackjack. He center punched on first shot. I think the prefit barrel will work.
