Does Varget burn dirtier to you compared to RE15?

I am getting another 6mmBR built based on an M700 and a 25 inch Hart 1-8 twist that was a take off barrel with not many rounds through it. This will be a prone rifle. When I had my 6BR once before a couple of years ago it was in a MAK tube gun repeater and it proved to be too cluncky and my arthritic hands and I had a hard time with it so I sold it. My conditon is much better now and I am ready for this fine rifle in a 40X stock, pillar bedded. I have read here where Varget is quite popular in the 6br, but I use a lot of RE15 in .223 and the 6mmRAT as well as H4895. Is Varget generally a dirtier burning powder, do you think?
Thanks for reading, John

My experience is yes and no...??? I don't think Varget is a dirty powder by any means. However, if I shoot RE-15 in with a low to mid-load it cleans with the dirtiest patches I have every seen. But when I push it up to the top of the load capacity (2750 fps with 175 SMK in 308 with 26" barrel) is burns much cleaner. That has been my experience.... Luck, Tim

In my 6BR, 28" Krieger bbl, Varget is MUCH cleaner than RL 15. I am running 105 Bergers at 2860 fps with Varget, and I was getting 2920 with the RL 15, but the bbl was super dirty. Also, with the RL 15 I was getting sticky bolt lift when the temp rose above 70 degrees. I will never use RL 15 in that bbl again.

I am fairly new to the 6BR but I've shot both in mine, and RL15 does seem to soot up the barrel more. But if you clean the barrel after no more than 20 rounds it comes right out. The RL15 does seem to be more accurate in my rifle, so I'm sticking with it over Varget. (although 8208 might change that) I will agree with what Gman says, loads that displayed no pressure signs at all in 55-60 degree temps suddenly started to crater primers and get sticky at 70 with the RL15.

i have used both of these powders. the varget was dirty in my 22-250 flyers at about 20 rds the rl 15 was awesome in the 22-250 clean clean clean. when i went to the 6br i tried the rl 15 first and found the opposite to be true. the varget seemed to be the cleaner burning by far.
