Do you float your rim fire barrel or not?

Curious how many float there barrels and how many don't.
You can just post float or no float (with comments if you like).

My Ruger 10/22 does not like to be floated.
My CZ 455 likes to be floated but the group size between float and no float are extremely close.

Pretty much, yes.
9 of my bolt guns are all bedded from the rearmost point of the tang to a point approximately 1 1/2" to 2" in front of the front receiver ring. 2 CMP 40-X rifles are floated, but not bedded.

I give them whichever they want. The bolt guns seem to prefer free floating a significantly higher percentage of the time than the 10/22s - 10/22s do have widely varying personalities. :)

Yep, pillared, glassed, and floated. Even the AR15/22 has a float tube. Floating eliminates a potential problem, but it will change the tune.

10/22's? Why not, Corvair owners installed headers too. The original 40X's were floated but had pressure tuners in the stock forearm. It might be worth trying shims in the tip of the barrel channel.

Absolutely. My 22lr rifles always seem to shoot better with a floated barrel. As do my centerfire bolt action and AR15 rifles.

My 22lr rifles have the action bedded plus about 2" in front of the receiver and then free float and they seem to shoot very well that way.

If you float a 10/22 there isn't much left holding it in after taking the clamp off the front of the barrel.

My CZ455 barrel is floated and shoots well.
My 10/22 Kidd barrel got remarkably better when the barrel was bedded for about two inches just ahead of the receiver. Basically, it's a crap shoot as to what is correct.

Mainly floated, but one 10-22 bbl is completely bedded with rtf silicone form-a-gasket, and has won money. Nothing ventured nothing gained in the rimfire Crap Shoot
