I just cleaned up my traps today.

Trapped 500 to 700 coon per fall a few years when I was younger and they were worth the time. Trapped and snared a bunch of coyotes also over the years. Just keep them knocked back a bit on my farm these days.

Wow, this brings back memories of a very long time ago, late 50's when I trapped muskrats in a local stream. The fur was marketable as lining for gloves. I had mixed results but managed to earn a few bucks to supplement my allowance. I used the old spring actuated leg traps I got from my uncle. It was so long ago I only have a vague recollection of the endeavor.

As a kid, I wanted to be a mountain man but never had the guts to go off the grid and do it.

I used to trap . Job was kinda seasonal. Tried to set for whatever making sign, mostly coon, mink.muskrats ,beaver. Coyotes were the smartest varmint I ever tried to catch. Count on one hand the coyotes I caught. Doug

Yea, I did ok for a school kid. Muskrats, coon, and a few mink and beaver. Fond memories from the early eighties

I had game cameras out for deer in three locations this fall. I got tired of the raccoon/opossum pics. So I set 15 220's out (box and trail sets) ran three days. 15 opossum, 8 raccoon, 3 ditch cougar. Watching for otter sign, would like to catch another one or two.

Back in the day. I was an avid trapper, in fact took seven years off of work and live in a tent running traplines in the winter and odd jobs and doing control work the rest of the year. District director of the MN trappers assc., trappers ed instructor and did beaver control work in MN and WI. I finally went back to work when the bottom started falling out of the fur market.
