Do NF 12-42 BR lens caps fit NF NXS 56?

I would like to use screw in lens caps and wanted to know if these lenscaps from a BR would fit a NXS. I would guess that the fronts would work, both being 56mm but not sure if the rear would fit.

I am sure somebody here has tried this experiment.

Thanks

David

No they don't fit. I just tried them. Somebody was selling plastic screw in covers for them. I can't remember where I saw it. Maybe in the classifieds. Matt

I looked around on the internet and I couldn't find them. I know somebody was selling them. You could maybe go to a camera shop and get a polarizing filter in the right thread. matt

If you know the thread size, Sensei probably makes them.

Is the scope tube at the objective bigger in diameter on the NXS model?

Same caps here: http://www.stockcap.com They will send samples to you at no cost. You can purchase them for pennies each. Measure the OD of your ocular and objective, and ask for samples.

BTW: you can also use the snap on, pinch type camera lens caps (Canon, Nikon, etc) in the correct sizes. They are available in sizes from 27MM - 86MM ;)

Thanks to all who have answered. I had thought abou the photo lens route and I am going to pursue that. I'll let yo know the sizes I work out.

If you choose the camera lens cap route, simply measure the ID of the ocular and objective on the tube. You won't have to worry about the thread size. You can purchase a step-up screw in ring, in various sizes, and use virtually any size screw in cap, or filter, your heart desires.

62mm camera cap/filter fits the Sightron 10-50x and the NSX 56mm's..

Buy this lens shade that screws unto a NSX 56mm or the Sightron 10-50x and it comes with a squeeze lens cap: http://www.ebay.com/itm/370719790094?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Update on trying to put all of this together.

I measured the sunshield and it did look to be a 62 mm thread, and the rear looked to be maybe 37mm thread. I went to best buy and got a 62 and the smallest they had was a 40.5. Brought them home and sure enough the 62 was perfect but when I went to put the rear on, it wouldn't stay. Looked closely it didn't look like it had threads. Sure enough there are do real exposed threads. The rear lens holder for the last piece of glass has no threads and on top of it is sloped.

So the only real option is a slip over for the rear. Looked at my Sightron III's and they are the same, no rear threads on the quick focus eyepiece.

Interesting exercise
