Do F class rifles ever use magazines?

I'm sizing up parts for a M700 actioned beginner f-class rifle, which will no doubt also see some varmint shooting. Does chambering rounds from a magazine hurt accuracy? Maybe I could single-feed delicate match loads. There are several options now for m700 bottom metal with AI mags. How does a BDL style open mag well effect bedding and accuracy?

If the action is properly bedded, preferably with pillars also glued in, having a mag-well cutout and DBM shouldn't hurt accuracy.

For F-Class it is single-load ONLY, no magazine feeding. You could put a single-feed follower in one magazine and use that for matches.

Another issue is seating bullets where you want them in relation to the lands vs the limitation of the magazine. Won't get into that here.

Well, you're not technically allowed to use a magazine for F-Class, but there is not problem dropping a cartridge on top of the empty magazine and sliding it home. Get whatever magazine you want and use the rifle also for F-Class....you'll have no issues.

I have a Bobsled for my AR and I know they are made for 308's also.It is just a dummy mag that aligns a single round for a perfect feed. They also lock open an auto after the shot, very handy. Tom

To answer the question "Do F class rifles ever use magazines?" the answer is NO. F class is shot under the NRA highpower rules and they require single feed of all ammo.

To answer the question, 'Do people use rifles with magazines?" the answer is YES, but they single feed.

Just to be a bit of a pedant (since, well, what's the internet for after all ;D )... You're welcome to use a magazine. But you may only have one round in the gun at a time for slow-fire stages. I have seen shooters (in high power) load a single round in a magazine, load the magazine, then chamber the round from that magazine, which, while unusual, is allowed.

The rule's only one round in the gun at once--the way it gets there (dropped on top of a solid action bottom, single shot follower, SLED, ordinary magazine, or fed from a magazine that only contains a single round) doesn't matter.

I went and found the relevant section of the rule book:

10.1.3 Loaded Rifles - A rifle that has a cartridge in the chamber, or the internal or attached magazine shall be considered loaded. A loaded rifle shall be pointed in a safe direction at all times. The bolt shall be closed only while the rifle is pointed downrange in the general direction of the targets and with the muzzle away from the shooter’s body.
....

10.1.6 Loading in Slow Fire - In all slow fire events, the rifle will be loaded with only one cartridge at a time. The cartridge shall be inserted in the magazine or chamber only when the rifle is pointed down range. Resting a loaded rifle on a shooting stool or the foot, is prohibited. (See Rule 10.1.3).
