Any plans or suggestions for building a br using a black walnut blank - tools, plans, suggestions, pictures etc.

Go to the gunsmithing forum and look up the diy stockmaking thread. It takes you on many adventures in stockmaking with many tools

Search the “do it yourself stock making” thread in the forum. Joshb has an excellent explanation of tools and process needed to build a stock. It’s not specific to a Benchrest stock, but as long as you understand the process you can shape it however you see fit.

I really like the paint job on that. Why did you paint it though if it was made out of walnut?

Everyone got black walnut-

No one has paint like this

Get some walnut, mill it, glue it and inlet it. As said before, go to the stock making thread. Black walnut is considered to be more irritating to the skin, etc than other walnuts. Grab a box of dust masks.

I don't have the tools to build a stock, but a year ago I purchased a Richards Microfit walnut with extra wood in spots to allow me to final shape to my desire. It was suitably inleted so it could be easily bedded . It's my fifth and final stock for my Ftr rifle, as it fits and performs the best. Give Richards a look.
