Ditch the caps?

Anyone leave their scope turret caps off? Just got a Sightron S-Tac; seems like a decent scope. The only thing I don't care for is the turret caps are quite substantial. Anyone leave theirs off, or do you risk moisture or other maladies?

I take mine off when i pull the rifle out of the case. Put back on before putting away.

I have used it hunting, but left the caps on and had i anything to shoot at, would have just used the reticle.

And yes, they are indeed tall!!
STAC 4-20X50 MOA.

When deer hunting with a scope and intending to shoot by clicking to the yardage I leave the scope caps at home. I don't think the scope caps seal your scope against conditions.

I am the opposite but my hunting is a bit more rigorous than walking to a stand or blind. Caps stay on until time to shoot otherwise you risk the turrets turning in your pack or by brush and having your zero off. If it has a zero stop its a non issue but scopes with zero stops are not generally capped.
