Dillon XL750 question

I was just trying to see what peoples thoughts were. When I entered this sport all precision reloading had to be done on a single stage/bonaza/coax type press with arbor type seating dies. I was watching f-class john and Erik cortina who obviously know what they’re doing. They both seem to have used Dillon xl750s for their reloading press. Anyone have any input? I recently got an XL 750 originally with no intentions to do my rifle rounds on it but now I am rethinking. I saw the Armanov tool head and die rings so maybe that will improve its concentricity ? Thanks!!

I can't shoot well enough to see the difference in .223 for m4 carbine with iron sights with 54 year old eyes to justify the time on my single stage anymore.... Do the brass work and powder charge right and I personally believe under 600 yards the Dillon 550c can hang in there... Because at the end of the day no matter what you are the weak link in even a $10,000 rifle.. I still load my large caliber rounds on my single stage because I can't justify my Dillon with only two dies.... So just like everything else , only testing will tell the truth.... I assure you there's a lot of lies out there.... Let the target tell the truth and save yourself a few dollars especially in these times... Once you master the easy stuff which is hard then the money crap starts...

I use a 550b for just about everything, except forming cases and other heavy work. Not in progressive mode. I considered selling it when I stopped pistol shooting - but after loading good 308 and 223 ammo for F-Class, I kept it. Makes good straight rounds. I prime on it too, for small primers- just to save changing the primer feed.

^ Same here on a 650… including full length sizing.

I've loaded a ton of rounds on the Hornady LNL AP. If you've got your process down, you can make it work just fine. Having a good load is more important than a few thousandths of runout. Though with the AP, loading 6mm Creedmoor and 6.5 Creedmoor, I was getting 0.003" or less consistently. But sometimes you would really torque the shell plate trying to get FL dies set perfect and sometimes threading them down a bit more to get proper should bump. That made the whole process a bit tedious, but its all die dependent.

I've since bought a Zero press and really enjoy using it for lower-volume shooting. I really enjoy being able to use the Area 419 shell holder kit. I can use the same dies on multiple rifles and set my bump based off the shell holder insert.

I load everything on a Dillon 550. For my 1,000 yard loads I use the Dillon as a single stage. Everything else is loaded as a progressive. I am not the greatest shooter in the world, but I got 7" groups at 1,000 yards loading on the DIllon 550.

John Whidden loads all of his compitition rounds on a Dillon 550 . He makes floating toolheads for 550 and 650/750 presses . The floating toolhead helps with concentricity .

I have a friend who shoots High Power, he is a High Master, and President's cup. All loaded on a Dillon progressive 1050.
Try the Dillon on your particular competition to evaluate it.

Sometimes you have to put the locking ring under the toolhead, due to the thickness/length of the die. Works just as well.
