If you are like me you have cussed at getting that 550 index ball out of its hole without losing it in the process. So today I took a scrap of electrical tape, pushed the tape over the ball and picked it out using the tape. Worked like a charm. Had to share it.

This happen only if the spring have been cut off or spring is weak. The ball is protruding if those condition do not exist and are easily removed my hand. No tools or trick are needed.

original is steel -but some guy replace it with teflon - plastic ball type with reduced power spring. This is done when loading pistol round like 9 mm major that take close to a full case of powder depending on powder. This happen usually with VV3N37-38. Up to 9.2 grains of those powder can be shoved in a 9mm case but a finger on top of the case is required when indexing the press !

For normal load in pistol caliber - this is not necessary. Rifle..not a problem unless it is a very small - strait wall cartridge.
