When you find a load that makes the 45ACP with a 185 about 1500FPS and doesn't destroy the gun and shooter, let me know. Keep experimenting, and have fun, but most of all be safe.

I like a 45acp subsonic don't plan on using a 45 at more than 10 yards,my 9mm carbine a little farther understanding all my weapons are key.

I want to run my 9mm carbine 75-100 yds (the width of the property) but it seems incapable of any kind of accuracy at those distances. Some how in my mind I think a proper load will make it all happen, but I have yet to find it. I tried some 147 grain 9mms but I am not impressed.

Do yourself a favor and ditch the Unique it is very dirty and Smokey. CFE Pistol is cleaner and work well for both 9mm and 45… There are dozens of powders that will work better and interchangeable with several pistol cartridges.

Standard 45ACP ammo (180gr - 220gr bullet) is always subsonic. If it is supersonic then you have a double charge of Titegroup ;)

I myself may have to try some CFE pistol, if I can talk myself into paying the price.
Titegroup came out and a lot of guys I shoot with liked it. I never could get the accuracy I could out of BE or Unique. I never thought I would ever shoot 12lb of bullseye, on my third keg now.
Unique, it is so universal for rifle and pistol stuff (cast bullets especially) don’t see how you could be with out it.
2400, covers a bunch as well, dirty, it wipes off easy.

Titegroup and Bullseye are both great powders that burn very clean. They are very close to each other in load weight for any given projectile. The only downside is their lower case fill as compared to other powders. They require a little more focus to avoid a double charge. Unlike some other powders, a double charge of these powders won’t overfill the case or interfering with seating a bullet.

W231/HP38 is good middle of road powder that is cleaner than Unique, but dirtier that Titegroup and Bullseye. It does load easily through progressive press and has good case fill.

CFEPistol is somewhere between Titegroup / Bullseye and W231. It has good case fill (low risk of double charge), meters well in progressive, and fairly clean burning,

The list of pistol powders that are versatile is quite long. The only thing dirtier than Unique is Shotgun Powders

My uncle gave me about 4 lbs of unique the first pistol loads I did,I've been loading my 9mm and my 45acp with titegroup works ok never any problems, I bought the titegroup for 223 subsonics tried that its ok, doing some testing on one of my ARs using mp415 says it's like hodgdon 335 close but no cigar, does okay for plinking also have accurate 2015 just looking for a real good powder for my new ar I built 24" 1in7 it's my distance gun 100 yards +62 grain jacketed bt ,any suggestions?

I loaded countless thousands of 9mm 115JHP & 45 ACP 200 gr LSWC over 6 grains of Unique. As far as being dirty, who cares? That's what they make brushes and solvent for.

If / when you shoot is small spaces or while using a flashlight (night time shooting or home defense) the smoke/debris cloud generated by Unique is blinding (reflecting back all the light - whiteout). This is the more important”Dirty” that concerns me.

If you only shoot in open spaces and daylight then you‘ll never recognize the potential issue. Ignorance is bliss - I hope this will never be a concern for you.
