Difference between Savage PTA and F Class actions?

A buddy just placed an order for an action with Savage. It’s an opposite port with a .422” boltface. He wanted a PTA action but was told all those were being used in production guns. However, they will make what he wants but in an F Class action. I asked him what the difference is and he wasn’t sure. Neither am I. What’s different between these two actions?

I suspect the difference will be between a 2 screw vs 3 screw actions in large shank.

The PTS is single shot with three screws.
I believe the the F class is a PTA with a magazine.

Savage has a rifle called Savage 12 F-class

Unless something has changed recently, they use the PTA action for those rifles. Same for the Savage 12 FTR.

I'm not aware of Savage making an 'F-class action' that is different from the PTA.

The Fclass\FTR rifles come with a single shot 3 screw large shank actions. Just like the BR model.

I can't seem to figure out what Savage is telling your buddy. You might want to have him get more info.

I believe the the F class is a PTA with a magazine.

That would be an odd thing for Savage to do since F-class competitions by definition are shot single shot, manually loaded. Shooting magazine loaded, even if loading one round at a time, is not allowed.

The BR model rifles come with a dual port (RBLPRE)

That's correct. The LRP is a repeater target action.

Just looking at the earlier posts, and thinking of building an F Class with a Savage target action.

Question, is this action large shank? I.e. 1 1/8 tenon thread?
